Milo Johnson is a composer and multi-instrumentalist who writes and produces at the intersection of jazz and classical music. He is also the bassist for Busty and the Bass and currently lives in Vancouver, British Columbia.

He learned bass at thirteen, and by fourteen was sneaking into DC jazz institutions to absorb a musical tradition and culture that has intoxicated him—and shaped him—ever since.

In 2011, he moved to Montreal to study jazz performance at McGill University where he co-founded his band Busty and the Bass. Over the past ten years as a band they have toured across North America and Europe, playing sold-out shows and international festivals. The band has collaborated with legendary musicians and producers including Macy Gray, George Clinton (Parliament-Funkadelic), Verdine White (of Earth, Wind and Fire) and Neal Pogue (producer & mixing engineer for Outkast, TLC, Tyler the Creator, Doja Cat).

Milo released his first solo album “Wishful Thinking” in September of 2022. This project is heavily jazz-influenced and features ten original compositions written over the past 12 years. He is currently finishing up his second record which features more classical instrumentation for strings and harp, and is an exploration of blending jazz and classical approaches to composition.
